I’ve been hosting Easter for my family for the past few years, and have added a little more to my Easter tablescapes each year. I realized early on the impact a festive table can have on the holiday, making it feel more special than a regular family dinner, and I want to help you feel the same way!
Once you find the aesthetic that fits your style it’s easy to get signature pieces you can use for years to come.
This post is all about five trendy Easter tablescapes and how you can get the look for your own table.
Trendy Easter Tablescapes
Boho

The color palette in this Easter tablescape is pretty minimal but it doesn’t look it when you add so many different textures! The roughness of the placemats paired with the glass candleholders bring a beautiful balance.
The flowers and candles bring some nature into the room which is perfect for a Spring holiday when it’s starting to get sunny outside again and the world seems to be coming back to life.
An added benefit of this look is that the pieces are classic and not tied to Easter, so you can use them all year round.

Nature Inspired

Most Easter tablescapes will have some elements of nature in them given the season, but what makes this one special is that the color scheme keeps the nature trend going. Pairing the bold mustard yellow with the dark olive green creates a powerful statement without needing much more in terms of decor, making it perfect for people who prefer a minimalist theme.
Even though there are nods to Easter like the eggs, they are still kept in a more natural color scheme instead of the pastels you are used to seeing.

Kitschy

When it comes to Easter tablescapes, kitschy is the norm for most people. Think bright pastels, eggs and bunnies everywhere, tulips and dandelions all around the room.
Let’s be clear – kitsch is not a bad thing. For most people, it means tradition and nostalgia.
This look is not about subtlety, it’s about surrounding yourself with as much Easter as possible!

Vintage

If your family is more formal when it comes to holidays, a vintage Easter tablescape may be right up your alley.
The height in the center of the table with the candlesticks and vases makes for a more interesting display than a flat setup and the floral motifs everywhere bring a lot of charm.
Your family might even have some pieces from entertaining days gone by they can donate to you!

Pastel

When it comes to Easter tablescapes you can’t beat a pastel color scheme! The colors just scream Easter and really get you in a holiday mood.
The key here is to not let one color overpower the others. Keep them balanced by not only incorporating them into the table decor, but in the tableware itself.
The mismatched plates and bowls add a lot of fun to this tablescape to keep the atmosphere lighthearted.

Setting Up Your Easter Table
Once you’ve decided on a theme and gathered your supplies it’s time to get everything on the table!
A lot of the table decor can be set up the night before to save you time the day of, but I don’t recommend putting out the actual dinnerware until just before the guests arrive. This is to make sure no dust or pet hair get on anything your guests will be eating off of. If you do want to put them out early, lay them out upside down or cover them with a towel to keep them clean.
Seating Arrangements
The first thing you’ll want to know is where everyone will be sitting. Assigned seating can be so much easier than letting everyone choose their own spot because it ensures everyone can enjoy their day as much as possible. For example, you wouldn’t want to put two people who don’t get along next to each other. Or you wouldn’t want your elderly aunt who needs easy access to the bathroom squished in between two people against a wall where it’s hard to get out.
Knowing where everyone will be also helps you decide on the layout of the table. If your dad loves pouring gravy over his meal, then you know where to put the gravy boat!
Make cute name cards for everyone at their assigned seat to make the seating process as smooth as possible.
Start with the Center
It’s easiest to decorate the table from the center out so now is the time to lay out your tablecloth or runner so you can start decorating!
There are so many options for beautiful and functional things to put in the middle of the table like candles, flower arrangements, small bowls of food like olives or nuts, loose food like individually wrapped chocolates, and decor accents like Easter eggs.
The key to setting this up in a visually pleasing way is to play around with height, color, and texture so there is something that catches your eye everywhere you look.
Start with your biggest objects like floral arrangements and space them equally. Do the same with with any other large items you have like candlesticks or bowls. Fill in any empty spots with your accent pieces like Easter eggs, chocolates, dried flowers, etc.
This process will make it go quickly and seamlessly. Once you step back you will have a gorgeous display with varying heights, colors, and textures!
Put Out the Dinnerware
Most people today don’t follow the strict place setting rules of the past, so decide what you will need based on the meal. At the very least, you will need a dinner plate, napkin, utensils, and a glass.
I love the look of a small salad plate on top of a dinner plate if they have different patterns. Not only is it interesting visually but a lot of people like having a smaller plate to put bread or salad on or to make sure certain foods don’t touch.
If you want to get super fancy, try folding your napkins in a festive way. Check out my Pinterest board on napkin folding to see how you can easily make napkin bunnies!
